International women’s day will be celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when all women will be recognised for their achievements. It is a day to build support for women’s rights and their participation in the economy, politics, community and everyday life.
Australia’s first International Women’s Day was held in 1928 in Sydney. Organised by the Militant Women’s Movement, women called for equal pay for equal work, an 8-hour working day for shop girls and paid leave.
The next year the event spread to Brisbane. In 1931, annual marches were launched in both Sydney and Melbourne, and both marches continue to be held today.
Here at FlexiFund It, we want to celebrate the special women we have on the team. Alicia, Jessica and Rebecca.
Here’s a little bit about each of them and their roles with FlexiFund It.
Alicia oversees all marketing activity for the company. Alicia brainstorms all new ideas which are then coordinated with the marketing and sales team. She also produces an effective strategy for the company. Alicia is incredibly creative and passionate about marketing and is looking forward to seeing the company grow.
Jess has been at the forefront of the development of our software from the very beginning. Jess plays an integral role in the design and system functions of every facet of the software. She analyses the business needs and requirements and communicates these with our development team to effectively and efficiently implement the enhancements and modifications. Jess is passionate about the future development of the company and can’t wait to see it evolve as it grows.
Rebecca has been developing sales and marketing and recently took the opportunity to step up to Team Leader. She now oversees all the divisions within the company. Rebecca is an extremely dedicated and passionate employee and is looking forward to watching the business expand.
Happy international women’s days to you all! We thank you for your dedication and hard work you bring to the company.
No country in the world has achieved gender equality. Around the world, women disproportionately bear the brunt of poverty, are locked out of decision-making processes and experience unacceptably high levels of violence.
Together we can change that.
